The University of Barcelona (UB) was founded in 1450. It is structured in 5 campuses with 20 faculties and university schools, and has 106 departments teaching a complete range of courses including 69 undergraduate degrees, 67 Ph.D. programs and 130 Bologna masters, as well as its own specially tailored postgraduate courses. It is the only Spanish University to appear on the list of the world’s 200 best universities. The UB participates in an average of 150 European projects per year, for an amount of about 20 million euros a year. The UB is also the leading centre for university research in Spain (with more than 5,000 full-time researchers, technicians and research assistants) and one of the most active in Europe, both in terms of the number of research programs it runs and the excellence of its results.

KTH is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. KTH was founded in 1827 and is located in central Stockholm since 1917. KTH offers 8 Bachelor of Science in Engineering programmes, KTH offers around 50 Master’s programmes (and an additional 10 joint programmes) all taught in English. The academic fields include Architecture and Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics and Mathematics, Energy and Sustainable Development, Industrial Management and Innovation, Information and Communication Technology, Life Science Technology, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. KTH became involved in international cooperation at an early stage, and is today running a large number of international projects (the majority are funded by EU cooperation programmes) and cooperation with prestigious universities worldwide. KTH is also an attractive university for international students. KTH is an international university with many international researchers and students, especially at Master’s level. Extensive international research and educational exchange programmes allow for exchange with universities and colleges in Europe, the U.S. and Australia, but also increasingly in Asia. KTH is a partner in several international university networks. KTH is a major partner in two out of three European Knowledge and Innovation Communities formed by the prestigious EU organization EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology); InnoEnergy within the field sustainable energy and EIT ICT Labs within information and communication research. Five strategic multidisciplinary research platforms have been formed to further enhance KTH’s attraction as a major strategic research partner

Technische Universität Berlin (TUB) looks back over a long and distinguished tradition of teaching and research. In 1799 it’s most important predecessor, the Building Academy, was founded. In 1946 the university was re-established under the name of Technische Universität Berlin. The seven Faculties of the university offer approx. 100 courses of study from the fields of engineering and natural sciences, economics and business, planning sciences, humanities and the social sciences. Enrolment at TU Berlin was 30,000. Nearly [DAS1] 36 percent of the students are women and 20 per cent are foreign citizens. The students are instructed by ca. 330 professors and an academic staff of about 3.000. TU Berlin employs a total of about 8.500 people in administration, workshops and laboratories, making it one of the largest technical universities in Germany (3/2014).

Sapienza -Università di Roma is Rome’s first university and among the oldest in Europe, founded in 1303. With its 11 faculties and 67 departments, it has established a reputation as an internationally recognized centre for teaching and research, now counting more than 145,000 students, 4,500 professors and approx. 5,000 members of the administrative and technical staff. Sapienza is involved in an extensive range of international cooperation projects and actions and has developed sound operational and management experience.

CARDET is one of the leading research and development center in the eastern Mediterranean region with global expertise in project design and implementation, capacity building, and e-learning. CARDET is independently affiliated with universities and institutions from around the world, such as the Yale University and the International Council of Educational Media. CARDET has completed numerous projects relating to the development of capacity building and planning in eLearning, educational technology, skills and gaps assessments in educational institutions and development of organizational and technological solutions. CARDET brings together an international team of experts with decades of global expertise in research, foresight, educational technology, instructional design, eLearning, professional capacity building, design thinking, innovation, and human resource development.


Members of the CARDET team have successfully participated in more than 150 projects in more than 45 countries, several of which were supported by the European Commission, the United Nations Development Program, Microsoft, The Commonwealth of Learning, international agencies and governments from around the world. One of our core-strengths is our ability to carefully plan, implement, execute and evaluate projects in various contexts.

The Department of Social and Education Policy of the University of the Peloponnese belongs to the School of Social and Political Sciences, based in Corinth, Greece. Its prime mission is to offer high quality education and conduct cutting edge research in the areas of social and education policy. The Research and Documentation Unit on Analysis, Design and Implementation of Educational Programs which is part of the Department of Social and Educational Policy is specialized in the scientific study and analysis of all the dimensions ( structural, organizational, functional, administrative, political, economic and social) related to the way various educational interventions are designed and implemented.

More specifically, the main areas of interest which also coincide with the objectives of this proposal include:

The European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education was established in 2000 to promote European co-operation in the field of quality assurance. In November 2004 the General Assembly transformed the Network into the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). The idea for the association originates from the European Pilot Project for Evaluating Quality in Higher Education (1994-95) which demonstrated the value of sharing and developing experience in the area of quality assurance. The European Commission has, through grant support, financed the activities of ENQA since the very beginning.

Over the 105 years since its establishment, IISc has become the premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education in India. Beginning with 2 departments and 21 students in 1911, today IISc has 39 departments, units, or centres, 3500 students, and about 500 academic and scientific staff, supported by 600 administrative personnel. Out of this population of students, about 2200 are in various PhD programs, almost 900 are enrolled for various Masters degrees, whereas about 400 are registered in the newly established, research oriented, four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) programme, of which the first batch graduated in 2015.


In recent years, with new centres such as CiSTUP (The Centre of Infrastructure, Sustainable Transportation, and Urban Planning), the Divecha Centre for Climate Change, the Centre for Earth Sciences, the Centre for Neuroscience, the Centre for Excellence in Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE), and the Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber Physical Systems (RBCCPS), the Institute has vigorously promoted interdisciplinary research. Indeed, CiSTUP, RBCCPS and a new Centre for Brain Research (funded by a large private endowment) are expected to conduct translational research in their respective areas, in order to better connect with industry and society.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one among the foremost institutes of national importance in higher technological education, basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) is a private university in India,]spread across South India in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
